Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve February work day in Decatur, GA

For those of us that live in the Medlock Park area of Decatur, GA, we’re lucky to have a number of parks, including the Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve. This 28-acre park is tucked away on the elbow of two small neighborhood streets, Pine Bluff Drive and Wood Trail Lane (map it!). Whether you bring your family or go solo, I highly suggest spending a little time walking the boardwalks of the wetlands, checking out the bamboo forest, or watching the birds from the observation stand.

While the Preserve holds special events throughout the year, once a month they host a community clean-up centered around planting trees and shrubs, clearing and mulching trails, and pulling weeds, especially kudzu. The clean-up for this month is Sunday, February 9th, 2009 from 1-4 p.m. Be sure to bring work gloves and a water bottle!
