In celebration of Earth Day and to demonstrate the impact you can have by turning off your lights for one hour, Atlanta residents and businesses will flip the switch on their lights for one hour of darkness on Saturday, March 28th, 2009 from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. Earth Hour in Atlanta will represent one of many international, iconic skylines participating in the event. Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour will raise awareness of climate change in Atlanta as dozens of major landmark buildings in Downtown, Midtown, Atlantic Station and Buckhead and neighborhoods across the city go dark for one hour in honor of the event.
Other U.S. flagship cities include Chicago, Las Vegas, Nashville, Miami and Los Angeles.
