About

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to bring together information about all things green in Atlanta and Decatur. I realize this is a daunting task that others are also tackling (which is wonderful and I read their blogs) and that I will do my best to cover as much as I can (although it would be nice to have a staff like the Atlanta Intown Paper that has its own section, “Go Green Intown”).

A little about me:
my pastmy presentmy future

My interests range widely from recycling to transportation to tree planting to volunteering and to generally moving towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Lately, my biggest interest has involved eating locally and sustainably (as evidenced by the large number of food and gardening posts). All of these tie back into the bigger picture of “environmental issues,” of which there happens to be an abundance of information spread out across many sources, not the least of which are the blast emails and newsletters I receive from groups. So this blog is an outlet for me to consolidate and share all of the information I come across (some of which seems to be harder to find on the internet). I welcome any thoughts, information, and events you would like to share!

Oh yes, and my name is Jenny and I grew up in Atlanta and now live in Decatur. Please contact me with questions & comments: jenny.p@mac.com.

So much to do, so little time! But I will diligently continue to cover as much ground as possible in this life. Above are a few interests: hiking in Innsbruck, Austria; the last two miles of the inaugural Georgia Marathon down Peachtree Street; learning to wakeboard on Carter's Lake; Tripp & me at Jack's River Falls; Thailand's Floating Market

  1. Hi Jenny,

I had a great time at the BeltLine booth for the Historic Fourth Ward Park Conservancy this weekend! It was really nice to see you and meet Zack. Please let me know about other BeltLine volunteer activities, and I will keep you posted on what’s going on with the Conservancy. I hope to see you again soon!

    Hi Jenny,

Just wanted to say I’m enjoying snooping around your blog. I found it by way of searching for blogs commenting on Stump Jump. I’m signed up to run it in a few weeks as my first ultra. I didn’t realize your blog was about so many things I hold dear to my heart though… cool! I’m a big runner, hiker, novice cyclist, avid recycler and steward of the outdoors (as much as I can… but that needs work).

AND… I must say thank you for serving our beloved country. My brother was just commissioned a 2L in the Army (GA Nat’l Guard). I find that with the exception of my boyfriend, most of my friends who share my love of taking care of and enjoying the environment don’t share or understand my support of the military. So yay for you and all the work you’ve done!

Anyway, congrats on the Boston qualification… that’s my big goal right now. Maybe we’ll run into each other at Stump Jump as well.

    Take care… Lauren

    Hi Jenny,

Just found your blog – love it! Do you have a calendar somewhere on this site, that has upcoming events?

    Thanks!
    Caroline

    • Hi Caroline,
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to have a calendar in the future! For now, I tend to publish events in either individual blogs or by lumping like events together into one blog post. The best bet would be to click on the “Events” category to the right since I tag all events with that. That used to include just future events, but I’ve started tagging events that I’ve done, too, so there’s a mix in there. So much goes on in Atlanta that I would suggest subscribing to some of the eNewsletters that organizations have, such as Georgia Conservancy, Southeast Green, Trees Atlanta, the BeltLine, etc.

I hope that helps and that you continue to visit!
      Thanks,
      Jenny
