Race recycling at the 2009 Silver Comet Half-Marathon a great success, even if it was a bit wet!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make race recycling at the Silver Comet Half-Marathon a success! B Green Services and our team of volunteers did a fantastic job recycling paper cups and plastic water bottles and ended up keeping mounds of trash out of a landfill!

Making strides on race recycling with B Green Recycling at the Silver Comet Half-Marathon!

This year, the Silver Comet Half-Marathon is going to be eco-friendly with race recycling provided by B Green Services! The Atlanta recycling company will have recycling bins strategically placed near each of the water stops along the course and will have one of our volunteers work with the water stop volunteers to ensure all recyclables go into the bin and anything else goes into the trash (although most everything out there will be recycleable).

Review of the Doug Kessler 10K race in Sandy Springs: great race, but no recycling!!

I’m tired of seeing Atlanta road races not recycle (like the Doug Kessler 5K and 10K this past weekend). Now, race recycling is coming to metro Atlanta – we’re going to start working with B Green Services to provide race recycling services around the city. Emil Bekyarov heads B Green Services, which currently provides complete recycling solutions to hotels and restaurants around Atlanta, and we’re going to work together to institute race recycling at the Silver Comet Half-Marathon in conjunction with Dana Greene of Get Fit Atlanta!

You can recycle just about anything to be reformulated re-produced, but what about putting a wide variety of clean waste materials to an artistic use? UN calls for ban on plastic bags, plus Washington DC on the brink of charging five cents per plastic bag at stores!

Another step towards lessening and eliminating the use of plastic bags! Washington DC is on the brink of charging five cents per plastic bag in retail stores, thereby encouraging people to bring their own bags. And San Francisco has already outlawed plastic bags (with Los Angeles to follow in 2010). In addition to DC’s initiative (which hopefully other states and municipalities will soon follow), the United Nations has now called for a ban of plastic bags altogether.

Many of Atlanta’s recycling residents have found frustration with overflowing bins since the City of Atlanta switched to a biweekly recycling schedule. “No Scrap Left Behind:” recycling in the work place

Does your office recycle? If not, do you find yourself taking that coke can or yogurt container home with you so you can recycle it in your own bins?
